There is no law in Canada like this. Have you read the Canadian leg or checked the division of powers in Canada? It’s a virtue signal bill in Canada which was passed by the feds but it is vague and these issues do not fall within federal jurisdiction. Health care, counselling, child services, family services, etc are all provincial jurisdiction. The Canadian federal govt does NOT have jurisdiction over these matters so the bill passed by the feds is meaningless on these issues you are discussing. In fact, the one area it could be used is for Detrans not trans. In Canada, treatment of a patient, child, etc would actually have to involve a criminal offence for the federal leg to be used. So a T person would have to be physically abused, for example, for it to override provincial jurisdiction. The federal law cannot be used in a dispute over exploratory therapy or medical practices that a T person takes issue with b/c it’s up to the provincial authorities to dictate their policies on T treatment. Detrans are the ones who could utilize the Canadian law the most because they could argue they were physically, medically, psychology abused to a criminal level.

I note from the Times link that Chris Philp has said only cops with GRCs can strip search women in custody. This is a step forward, but surely there is provision in the GRA (possibly the EA2010) that could prevent even this if the Govt decided there was a legitimate sex exemption (as there ought to be in the matter of strip searches)?

Many thanks for another entertaining and informative episode. I sometimes feel like an eavesdropping, hanging about in the shadows listening! I'm busy formulating my submission to Scotgov on the proposed legislation. No doubt they will take heed of the comments as diligently as they did for the GRR.

Clive makes an interesting point (at 17:52 mins) that although the proposed conversion therapy ban has deliberately overlooked the so-called gender-affirming pathway as a modern conversion practice, by including "prescribing medication to suppress a person's sex drive" as a conversion practice they are unavoidably describing puberty-blockers (or chemical castration agents, as they should be known) and cross-sex hormones.

I will make a point of this in my consultation response.

Thank you for another great episode, chaps!

I am confused about a completely irrelevant matter. AFAIK, a Dog's Dinner is someone who is dressed in a famcy, overly formal way, e.g ' why are you wearing a top hat on a work drinks night? You look like a dog's dinner'. A dog's breakfast, on the other hand, is a complete mess ' Mermaids' accounts are a complete dog's breakfast'.

However the dog's dinnner meaning is being replaced by using dinner or breakfast to mean the same thing, at least as far as I can see by looking online.

Which I guess makes sense, dogs tend to eat similar meals at any opportunity. But ir does feel like the way literally has come to mean 'not in any way literally' to some extent, in that there are two completlely different meanings one can take from the phrase, and both seem to be accepted.

Dog's dinner = a mess and is fairly wide in its application, from someone dressed up overly fancy to e.g. the SNP lol

I've never used dog's breakfast, seems to be a new thing meaning much the same.

Not sure if it’s just me! Can’t speak for all Aussies but I have always said dog’s breakfast. I’d never heard dogs dinner in this context before. You know how we like to be quite oppositional down here..!

Excellent Substack btw. I love it and appreciate my weekly giggle in an otherwise stark subject.

I am younger than you, and I don't remember it so, but of course things change. so being overly fancy and being a mess are the same, or at least similar? are they even on the same spectrum? I can imagine a number of things that are not on a fancy/mess spectrum or binary.

Clive and Dennis another sterling show but might I just say, as you referenced that this fight may be on the way out, I think Stonwall may take a bit of time to dismantle, and you both are needed with the explanations, and law is so helpful, also you are a lot of fun to listen too. Please consider that you would still be needed 🙏

OK the business at hand: Scotland led by the tail that is the greens (mini yorkie sometimes spiteful little yappers)that is strenuously wagging the snp dog(Bassett hound facecdown, non moving hound) to force unwanted and dangerous legislation, that is against EHRC protected characteristics. The snp are being led down the hole and forced to agree with the lunatic green party, however the snp are still reeling from the smackdown from the UK Parliament and maybe looking to settle the score. The conversion therapy ban is a despicable petty nasty piece of legislation, that only the ignorant could have written, yes the DIE crackpots! Good to know that there are good people looking at this, too, so that money that isnt wasted on an unworkable, petty, spiteful piece of legislation that will harm lgb, parents, teachers, police, health care providers and see them incarcerated for refusing to pander to pro nouns!

I found the committee meeting on the trans prison policy to be full of bs lies and disingenuous disinformation. Any dog in the street will tell you NO MAN IN WOMENS PRISONS BECAUSE THEY POSE A SERIOUS THREAT TO WOMEN PRISONERS TO WHOM YOU HAVE A DUTY OF CARE. I found the woman trying and failing to justify using women as care animals for those rapists and murderers who may feel threatened in a male prison....newsflash prison is not there to pander to feelings, its not a place to hone your fetish at the expense of prison officers or the incarcerated women. They have not changed anything that the trans nutjob put it in in the first place like the quisling he was because no-one would care if its women and we can then push this further into institutions.

The police....PACE obviously being ignored in favour of a quango that is the PCC. Their reputation already in the bog as regards women who no longer trust them and actively avoid if at all possible, setting out what i would regard as a policy akin to rape. No man regardless of his fetishistic self Id should ever be allowed to strip search women, nor should female police officers be subjected to searching a fetishistic male getting his rocks off. It is sexual harassment of these officers. This must be stopped until the regulations recognise sex ABOVE gender bs for the safety abd dignity of women.

I could not have been more happy for Rachel Meade, the abhorrent way she has been treated by her employers abd the regulatory bodies is heinous, the judgement was magnificent, I hope the settlement will wipe the floor in both organisations. I agree with Clive when he says shevshould get her settlement abd retire knowing that her case nay make the tras think twice in future.

While some of this was gob smacking in its stupidity, Rachel's story more than made up for it, thanks once again to Clive and Dennis for an interesting podcast 👍 😀 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

Great episode, guys.

If the conversion therapy bill is passed into law it must be up for knocking out as being incompatible with the Human Rights Act for all the reasons given by Dennis in his substack piece.

Great result Rachel Meade and Naomi Cunningham 😎

The solicitors were Cole Khan and they have an excellent summary of the case on their website.

I have cross posted https://dustymasterson.substack.com/p/the-young-lions

Thanks again, both

Poxy Pickle lives in my Northern New South Wales town,he plays on some women's teams and constantly states that the women in the sports team accept him 'as a woman',since the Giggle V Tickle case began some of them have changed their minds but will not speak out. Tickle has gone underground ,possibly even left the area.I won't mention his real name here for my own safety(he knows me),he has the support of a few trans people in the area, but most of his mates have deserted him.He is just a sad, lonely AGP and he will lose the case, fingers crossed.

Great podcast as always!

In respect of Police Guidance, just to mention, the WRN is only about 2 years old, so was not where it is now in ‘24.

Kellie Jay Keen blew the whistle on this guidance at the time in ‘21.

Thanks for all you’re doing.

Thank you Clive and Dennis for an informative program. Let me just say that I don't care if a paraphilic male has been fully 'transitioned' and is thought to be vulnerable in the male prison. How about the women who will be even more vulnerable w/ a male in the women's prison? As Dennis said, 'women are not men's comfort animals' and I will add women are not men's human shields or validation objects. Put all males in segregation who are thought to be more vulnerable but those men's issues and paraphilias are not women's burden.
